Son Tra, Danang – A Summer Stroll In The Forest
Son Tra peninsula is perfect for walking enthusiasts
The Son Tra Peninsula forest is most convenient site to take a family stroll during the summer period.
Almost people and travellers take the popular path from down- town to Bai But, Linh Ung Pagoda and Bai Bac. It is an easy access by car, van and motorbikes with all the peninsula‘s highlights.
Off the beaten tracks, hide away from noisy motorbikes; wisely, we walk up to the mountain from the western – paths, through the army barrier.
In the Summer time, the forest is noisy with cicadas’ singing. The bushes cover all strong tropical colors – red, yellow, purple, light green of wild flowers and growing leaves. Summer flowers blossoms.
Butterflies please the travellers’ eyes at almost cool streams and flowers vast. At quiet noon or in the late afternoon, we may catch a glance of red shanked doucs – queen of the langurs.
Along the path, some corners, ones would love to stop to listen and soak up to the forest sounds/ atmosphere with all birds’ songs, langurs howls and flowers scent.
Few times, on the mountain’s loop, the forest fowls’ crow remind me much of forest and trekking experience in Vietnam’s central highlands, esp Gia Lai.
Despite being close byDanang centre, Son Tra peninsula is still a relatively mysterious part to the locals and the country’s travellers. For kids, summer provides the great opportunities to learn about surrounding nature, tropical beach faunas and floras.
Picnic lunch under shady tree or former heliport’ rear is a nice experience.
End of the days, after a stroll you may want an experience of the summer night at newly – open mountain style- resorts.
Enjoy summer walk in Son Tra forest and beware of the native monkeys.
